My Hero

Lyrics from Third Day’s Love Song:

I’ve heard it said that a man would climb a mountain
Just to be with the one he loves.
How many times has he broken that promise
It has never been done.
I’ve never climbed the highest mountain,
But I walked the hill of Calvary.

I know that you don’t understand
the fullness of My love.
How I died upon the cross for your sins.

Just to be with you, I’ve done everything
There’s no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away.

My Hero, the One Who died for me:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13, KJV)

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. (Isaiah 53:5, Amplified)

…He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, so opened he not his mouth… (Acts 8:32, KJV)

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. (John 10:11, KJV)

…I lay down My [own] life… (John 10:17, Amplified)

And they took Jesus and led [Him] away; so He went out, bearing His own cross, to the spot called The Place of the Skull… There they crucified Him… (John 19:17-18, Amplified)

…And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. (John 19:30, Amplified)

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. (1 Peter 2:24-25,KJV & Amplified)

The world is full of people who have earned the right to be called heroes. Others are called heroes who have never done anything heroic. There is only One Man Who laid down His life for not just one, not just a few, not just a nation, but for every person that has ever and will ever walk this earth. But today, think about the fact that He did if for you. He’s not just a Hero. He’s not just the world’s Hero. He is your Hero. Selah.
