Today I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day not only to those women who have given birth to or adopted a child, but I also want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to those who haven’t given birth or adopted, but long to one day be a happy mother of children.

This morning I am holding close to my heart in prayer, those women who may find this holiday difficult due to infertility. You are not alone and you are not without hope. No matter how many miscarriages. No matter how many years of infertility. None of that changes God or His Word.

In the beginning, at the earth’s creation, when God made man, He spoke a blessing over man.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth… (Genesis 1:26, KJV)

Now I’ve heard many teachings on this passage of scripture and one of the things I hear the most is, “This isn’t just about having babies.” They are right. The blessing God spoke over man, isn’t just about having babies, but that is most definitely a part of it.

In Exodus 23:26 God spoke to His people and told them what to expect when they followed and obeyed Him.

You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst. None shall lose her young by miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. (Exodus 23:26, Amplified)

And from the book of Psalms we see more of His heart on this subject.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful of children. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalm 113:9, KJV)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward… Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! (Psalms 127:3, 5; Amplified)

I like that it says, “He maketh”. Hannah didn’t maker herself a mother. Sarah didn’t make herself a mother. Rebekah didn’t make herself a mother. Elizabeth didn’t make herself a mother. And Mary, the mother of Jesus, most definitely did not make herself a mother. God made each of these women and many more mothers.

It says of Sarah,

Because of faith also Sarah herself received physical power to conceive a child, even when she was long past the age for it, because she considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word. (Hebrews 11:11, Amplified)

Today, have faith in God. Believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. Trust yourself and your dreams to Him and let Him make you what you ought to be, a happy mother of children! (Mark 11:22; Heb 11:6; Heb 13:21)
