Today as I look back on my Christian walk, I see times of great joy and times of great sorrow. Whether they were joyful times or sorrowful times doesn’t seem to have been based on my circumstances. What I realize now is that it was based more so on whether I was abiding in Him… or not.

I have found great joy at the best of times and I have found great joy in the worst of times. How? By finding it in Him. In His Presence is fullness of joy. With Him are pleasures forevermore. But apart from Him… I have never found true and lasting joy in good times or in bad.

Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my exceeding joy… (Psalms 43:4, Amplified)
