Remind Me

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. (John 14:26, Amplified)

As I read this scripture one day, I was reminded of something that I once heard a minister say. He said that the body of Christ doesn’t consistently walk in love, because it is not in the forefront of our minds. We don’t always remember to walk in love.

This scripture says that the Holy Spirit will remind us of the things we have been told. So I decided to ask the Holy Spirit to remind me to walk in love. Remind me what love is. Remind me that I am born of Love and that the love of God has been shed abroad in my heart. Remind me to, by faith, access the grace to love.

I made this request during my morning prayer time. Shortly after, I headed out the door and on the road to my first appointment of the day. As I drove along, a car began to tailgate me. I decided to move over and kind of tensed up as I knew the car would now speed up well above the speed limit to pass me. I really don’t like it when they do that. Just as I moved over and the other car began to accelerate, I heard this instruction in my spirit, “Don’t notice that.”

I immediately knew the Holy Spirit was reminding me that love doesn’t notice a suffered wrong.

As I continued to drive, another car began to tailgate me. I was in the middle lane and the lanes on either side of me where empty. I thought to myself, “They can just go around me.”

Just as I had that thought, I once again heard some instruction from the Holy Spirit. He said, “And when he does, don’t get mad.”

That morning I had asked the Holy Spirit to remind me to love and immediately He began to do just that. The Bible tells us that He, the Holy Spirit has come to help us and He is ready to do just that. All you have to do is ask.
