I think I will write about the things that I love about God as they come to my heart over the next few weeks. You are welcome to add your own in the comments section if you’d like 🙂
Of course the main reason I love God is the fact that while I was still a sinner He sent His Son Jesus to die in my place. This will always be the number one reason I love Him. And while this is always on my heart, I’d like to share the thing that touched my heart today and made me love God even more.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest… (Matthew 11:28, Aplified)
…Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. (Song of Solomon 2:13, Amplified)
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while… (Mark 6:31, KJV)
I love God because of what I hear in each of these scriptures. I hear an invitation. The Webster’s 1828 dictionary includes these words and phrases in the definition to invite: “to ask”; “to request”. Think about that the King of the Universe, the Creator of All, asks us, makes requests of us, invites us. He could make us spend time with Him if He wanted to, but He doesn’t. He’s a Gentleman. Instead He simply extends an invitation and then waits for us to accept it. This is something I love about God.
Come to Me…
